Milan Lucic was known for his clutch performances in the postseason during his time with the Boston Bruins, but last night, his remarkable record was finally surpassed.
Surpassing Looch
Before game five against the Panthers, Shawn Hutcheon of The Fourth Period mentioned that Patrice Bergeron had the chance to break the Bruins' record held by Lucic.
In his 2023 postseason debut on Wednesday night, Bergeron did exactly that by equalizing the game at 3-3 early in the third period. According to NHL Public Relations:
* Patrice Bergeron (11-14—25 in 37 GP) requires one goal to overtake Milan Lucic (11-7—18 in 25 GP) for the highest number of goals in potential series-clinching matches by a Bruins player.
Regrettably, the Panthers ruined Bergeron's comeback, as they avoided elimination with an overtime goal by Matthew Tkachuk.
Game six is scheduled for Sunrise on Friday night, with a 7:30 pm EST start.
