Following their unexpected early exit from the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Boston Bruins wasted no time kicking off their offseason with a notable signing on Friday morning.

Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, May 5, that the team has signed forward Matthew Poitras to a three-year entry-level contract beginning with the 2023-24 season with an annual NHL cap hit of $870,000.
Hailing from Brooklin, Ontario, Poitras was the first selection by Boston in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, taken in the second round (54th overall).
The 19-year-old talent notched 16 goals and 79 assists for the Guelph Storm this season, ranking second in assists and sixth in points in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).
