During the Boston Bruins' final media session for the 2022-23 season, forward Trent Frederic expressed eagerness about shifting to a full-time center role for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
Frederic, coming off a breakout season with career-highs in goals (17) and assists (14), shared,
"Center has been my position my entire life until I joined the team. I'm dedicating this summer to improving my faceoffs to contribute effectively in that aspect of the game."
He also noted his adaptability to playing both center and wing, reflecting on his experience last year when he played all three forward positions.
With Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci departing, the Bruins' center depth chart has changed. General Manager Don Sweeney highlighted Frederic's potential, alongside other newcomers, to fill those roles.
Frederic acknowledged the challenge, saying,
"Replacing them is impossible, but I'm committed to giving my best effort."
If he takes up the center position, Frederic is focusing on refining his skills, especially faceoffs, to contribute effectively.
