Bruins Captain Make Surprising Comment on Teammate

Published January 24, 2024 at 4:29 PM
Boston Bruins Captain spoke today about building chemistry with teammate Charlie Coyle. In his interview he emphasized the importance of on ice time together, not just in games but in practice as well.

Marchand goes on to say that the shift in styles compared to what they are used to playing with requires both practice and game time to get used to each other strengths.

"You need games, you need practices together. I think both of us are different players than what we are used to playing with the more you play together and the more you interact and communicate, the better it gets."

The captain's comments further cements that it takes more than talent for a hockey team to succeed. This is not the NBA where you can just have the 5 most talented guys, you need team chemistry, you need a bond that goes beyond skill.

The teams that have this the best most often are the most successful ones. This is also another reason why you don't see a lot of "super teams" in the NHL.
