The Boston Bruins have made a few transactions lately, making changes to their line up before their game Saturday night at home against the Devils. Friday, they placed Ian Mitchell on waivers in order to make a roster spot for highly touted prospect Georgii Merkulov. Merkulov will make his NHL debut Saturday against the Devils playing as third line center with JVR and Frederic.

Saturday, Ian Mitchell cleared waivers and the Bruins quickly assigned him to the Providence Bruins. This is the second time this season that Mitchell cleared waivers after the Bruins waived him. He also cleared back on October 26th. He played one game and was a healthy scratch in one game in this most recent call up. He played 10:50 of ice time and was a +1 rating in the Bruins 3-2 loss against the Wild. Mitchell has not yet transferred his high-end producing ways he had in college to the NHL level. He has never eclipsed the 40-game mark in a season yet.

The Bruins also activated Matt Grzelcyk from injury, he will make his return to the line up alongside Kevin Shattenkirk Saturday against the Devils. The Bruins are getting back to full strength just as they need to following the rough stretch before the holiday break. Matt Poitras will also be making his return after the World Junior Championship.
