Jeremy Swayman has been a terrific backstop for the Bruins this year. He has a 9-3-4 record with a 3rd best in the league 2.25 Goals Against Average and 2nd best in the league save percentage of .928. All of those stats are even with how poor the Bruins have been playing defensively lately. The most recent example was Friday night against the Winnipeg Jets (a 5-1 loss). After the loss Swayman was visibly frustrated with being hung out to dry throughout the game and voiced his displeasure at the teams play that night.

"To have this trend that's happening now that we're getting scored on in the last minute is unacceptable," Swayman said.

This brings us to an interesting development lately stating that the Toronto Maple Leafs are in the Goaltending Market According to Elliot Freidman. They have an injury to young goaltender Joseph Wall and veteran Ilya Samsonov has not performed to the level of expectations the Maple Leafs have set for him. Samsonov has gone 5-2, however he has a GAA of 3.79 and save percentage of .879 which are both toward the bottom of the league. The Maple Leafs first choice according to Friedman is to get Samsonov right, however if this does not come to fruition, say by the March 8th trade deadline, then they could be in the market for a goalie. Swayman would definitely be an upgrade to anything they have right now. Would the Leafs really be able to pull Swayman away from their division rival, who they are currently right behind in the standings? Never say Never in the NHL!
