Following his right hip resurfacing surgery on June 1, Kane inked a one-year, $2.75 million deal with the Red Wings on Nov. 28. His eight-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks, signed on July 9, 2014, concluded after the last season. He finished the season with the Rangers after being acquired in a three-team trade, also involving the Arizona Coyotes, on Feb. 28. During his time with New York, he amassed 12 points (five goals, seven assists) in 19 games, and with Chicago, he accrued 45 points (16 goals, 29 assists) in 54 games.
"I mean, try not to put too much pressure on myself, right?" Kane said. "I feel like throughout my career, I've always been a guy that's been counted on to, whether it's score goals for the team or provide offense or be good in pressure moments and in the biggest moments of the game, so I'm trying to have fun with that a little bit more. And then, like I said, just build myself back up as we go along here."
