Nick Foligno's presence in the Bruins' lineup for game three wasn't expected, but luckily he played, as he and his brother Marcus achieved a remarkable milestone that night.
Making History
With David Krejci sidelined at the last minute, Foligno took to the ice in Boston's game three against the Florida Panthers, ultimately netting the winning goal at 11:45 of the third period.
That same night, Marcus and the Wild faced off against the Stars in game three of their opening-round series. His goal, which made the score 3-1 in the second period, placed the brothers in the annals of NHL history.
According to NHL Public Relations:
* Both Marcus Foligno (MIN) and Nick Foligno (BOS) found the back of the net Friday, marking the first time since May 7, 2010 that two brothers scored on the same day in the postseason (Daniel & Henrik Sedin) and first since April 26, 2009 that two have done so on different teams (Eric Staal w/ CAR & Marc Staal w/ NYR).
The teams of both brothers will hit the ice again on Sunday, with the Bruins facing off against the Panthers at 3:30 pm, and the Wild taking on the Stars at 6:30 pm EST.
