A recreational men's hockey game in York turned chaotic when players engaged in a bench-clearing brawl, even resorting to using their sticks. The video went viral, leading the Adult Safe Hockey League (ASHL) to take swift action, condemning the violence as "shocking and unacceptable."
Both teams have received indefinite suspensions, and an investigation is ongoing, with potential permanent bans considered.
Referee Bruce Tennant, with over 45 years of experience, expressed his shock, saying it was like nothing he'd seen before.
The ASHL emphasized safety and respect in a statement, detailing measures in place, and announced suspensions and expulsions for those involved, along with conditions for return.
