Georgii Merkulov has been in exceptional shape throughout this month, showcasing notable progress in his second year with the Providence team, catching the attention of the Boston Bruins organization.
During Wednesday night's game, Merkulov managed to score a goal and contribute an assist, further adding to his remarkable performances in December. The 23-year-old player has demonstrated exceptional skills, tallying 10 goals and eight assists across 12 games, placing him fourth in the AHL with a total of 30 points. His sophomore season in the AHL was highlighted by an impressive display of two goals and three assists on December 9, building on his successful entry into the league after making the All-Rookie Team following a brief yet triumphant tenure at Ohio State University.
Despite going undrafted, this forward made a lasting impression during offseason camps last summer. Entering this season with Providence, he possessed a clear understanding of the areas he needed to refine and improve upon.
Merkulov didn't attend the Bruins' practice at Warrior Ice Arena on Thursday. However, there remains a chance for him to participate before Boston's upcoming game against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday.
