The Bruins currently lead the series 3-1 against the Panthers, even without the help of Patrice Bergeron on the ice. The question remains, though, for how long?
Significant Update from Coach Montgomery
Boston's team captain has been recuperating from a persistent injury at home while offering guidance to his teammates as he watches the games on television.
Following the Bruins' impressive 6-2 victory on the road in game four, head coach Jim Montgomery shared some news with the media about Bergeron's potential participation in game five.
''If they and the doctors say they're able to play, they're playing. You don't take chances in the playoffs. You don't wait to know if he's going to get another eight days of rest.''
‘'If he's healthy, and we know what the situation is, if he gets the green light, he's playing on Wednesday night.''
This marks the closest Bergeron has been to making a comeback. This development is not surprising, considering the team anticipated his return for Wednesday's game even before game three.
At the moment, Montgomery confirmed that Bergeron is nearer to returning than his fellow veteran, David Krejci:
''I have higher hopes for him playing than Krejci.''
It will be intriguing to see if the captain rejoins the lineup in time for game five, playing in front of a supportive home crowd. It's worth mentioning that the team has performed exceptionally well in the absence of both long-standing Bruins players.
