While Patrice Bergeron's absence was initially labeled as precautionary, Bruins' GM Don Sweeney's recent remarks have left fans feeling a bit uneasy.

The Bruins' captain has missed the team's last two practices leading up to the playoffs. Although many reports suggested that Bergeron was being held out as a matter of "extreme caution," Sweeney's comments seemed less certain.

Just Being Cautious or Something More?

''Taking an extra day again today, obviously. That's to be decided (if he plays) tomorrow.''

‘'If he feels well enough, he'll play. If not, we've done a really good job down the stretch of trying to — (Tomas) Nosek missed a game, was under the weather. (Jeremy Swayman) was off today, under the weather. We're just trying to monitor that and make sure we balance it out.

«Patrice doesn't need extra days of practice. If he feels better, he'll play.''

Though Sweeney didn't explicitly express concern about Bergeron missing games, his comments might not be the reassurance Bruins fans were hoping for.
On a brighter note, Brad Marchand, who knows Bergeron better than anyone, shared his belief that the captain will be ready for Game 1 on Monday.
Then again, it could be a strategic play to keep opponents guessing now that the postseason has arrived.
All we can do is wait for the puck to drop and see! The game is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST on Monday night at TD Garden.
