It was reported that the Bruins may be acquiring Joel Edmundson from the Capitals but Sweeney did not move quick enough and he has now be traded to the Leafs.
The return regarding the trade is still yet to be announced.
"Capitals have traded Edmundson to Toronto."
The 30 year-old shut down defenseman has 6 points in 45 games this year and has a cap hit on 3.5 million.
