Bruins announce massive signing

The Bruins signed Tom Fitzgerald to a 2 year contract on this date in 2004 which was going to be his 17th NHL season.
The Boston native go to live a childhood dream of playing for his hometown team in his last few seasons in the NHL.
"Tom brings experience and leadership to our team," general manager Mike O'Connell said. "Having grown up in here, he knows what hockey means to the Boston area. We look forward to having him on the team, and we feel he will be a good influence on our young players."
After the 04-05 season was a lockout year, Fitzgerald joined the Bruins in 05-06 playing in 71 games with 10 points and 40 penalty minutes.
