Bruins nominate Heinen for Bill Masterton award
The Bruins have nominated forward Danton Heinen for the 2024 Bill Masterton award recognizing his resilience, sportsmanship, and dedication to his team.
Heinen has had an incredible season as he started off with a PTO with the Bruins and has turned it into one of his most productive seasons in the NHL.Joe Haggerty, Chair of the Professional Hockey Writers Association Boston Chapter spoke on Heinen's incredible journey this season and how he deserves this award.
There are few better examples of resilience than Danton Heinen earning his way into a top-six role with the Boston Bruins this season after being a training camp invite that had to win his spot in the fall," said Joe Haggerty, Professional Hockey Writers Association Boston Chapter Chair. "Heinen went from not being in Boston's plans at all in the offseason to becoming an integral, versatile part of this season's team in his second go-round with the B's organization. Aside from being a solid pro and a valued teammate, that dedication and resilience also makes him an excellent Bruins nominee for this season's Masterton Trophy.
The 28 year-old forward has had one of his most successful season this year with 34 points in 69 games and a 14 +/- rating.
