Bruins star defenseman Charlie McAvoy is involved in a multi-million dollar lawsuit after his former marketing agency used his likeness after their contract expired.

The lawsuit was filed in New York after IF Management continued to use McAvoy's likeness despite their contract expiring in October 2023.

''Star NHL Defensemen Charlie McAvoy and John Carlson sue IF Management and its owner for alleged false and unauthorized use of their NIL (name, image, likeness). Both players are represented by Alexander Aigen for marketing. Aigen entered into an employment agreement with IF in October, 2022, but was terminated without cause in October, 2023. Carlson and McAvoy allege IF continued to use their likenesses thereafter without permission.''

McAvoy is not the only star NHL defenseman involved as Capitals D John Carlson is also part of the lawsuit after the same thing happened to him.

In January of this year, both players formally requested that all their images be removed from IF's online platforms.
