The Oilers destroyed the Panthers last night 8-1 in an incredible game 4 win as they head back to Florida for game 5.

During the game, Connor McDavid made NHL history as he got his 32nd assist in this year's playoffs surpassing Wayne Gretzky's rerecord of 31.
#Oilers Connor McDavid set a new #NHL record tonight for most assists in a single playoff with 32.

If you wanted a Gretzky-like stat, consider this one: McDavid has as many assists these playoffs as 16 of the 18 postseason leaders in the salary cap era had total points.

2023 Eichel 26
2022 McDavid 33
2021 Kucherov 31
2020 Kucherov 34
2019 Marchand 23
2018 Kuznetsov 32
2017 Malkin 28
2016 Couture 30
2015 Kane 23
2014 Kopitar 26
2013 Krejci 26

To complete such an incredible feature in 2024 while Gretzky did it in 1987 shows how truly dominant #97 is.
