Don Sweeney signed the 25-year-old D-man to a 1-year, two-way contract extension that will only cost the Bruins a cap hit of $775,000.
Last year, Mitchell spent most of his time in the AHL for the Providence Bruins appearing in 42 games. He had 6 goals and 18 assists for 24 points. His biggest upside though is that he kept a +/- rating of +10.
He got his shot to play 13 games with the Bruins when they ran into some injury trouble. He tallied 2 assists and had a +/- of 6.
The 6'0, 192 pounder is looking to make an impression at this years camp to try and break in with the club to start the season.
