After Don Sweeney and the Boston Bruins traded away Vezina winning G Linus Ullmark, they are already set to trade their newly acquired player.

Yesterday, Boston and Ottawa finalized the first big deal of the offseason that saw Ullmark go to the Nations Capital. The return that Boston got for Ullmark was pretty disappointing to say the least, as they received G Joonas Korpisalo and Forward Mark Kastelic and 1st-round pick (25th overall) in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.

Just think we were wrong about how much leverage Boston had. Chychrun was obviously never part of the deal or he would be here today- signs point to that just being a rumor. No market for Korpisalo at $4m, but BOS could retain 25%, eat 4x$1m and find a market at 4x$2m. #NHLBruins

The Deal left many fans scratching their heads as they believed that they would receive a pretty big player in return. But a 1st-round pick is nothing to turn your nose at.

The '2 Pad Stack Podcast' stated that the only way this trade works for the Bruins if they trade Korpisalo fairly soon after acquiring him.

At least the Bs were able to get a 1st round pick for a guy they acquired for nothing via free agency. However, the only way this trade makes sense to me is if Boston flips Korpisalo to another team, somehow.

With the recent signing of Prospect G Brandon Bussi, if the B's do trade away Korpisalo, all fingers point at him being the bonified backup to Jeremy Swayman.
