Former Bruins rival has unexpectedly decided to leave the NHL
Former Leafs forwards Alexander Barbanov has announced that he has officially left the NHL and is returning to the KHL.
Barbanov was unable to secure an NHL contract during free agency and has decided to sign a 2 year contract with Ak Bars Kazan in the KHL.
Alexander Barabanov signs two-year deal with KHL's AK Bars Kazan
Barbanov most recently played for the Sharks last season where he put up 13 points in 46 games. The Russian forward had a great season of 47 points in 68 games a few years ago but has been on the decline ever since.
