Jim Montgomery mimicked diving on bench after controversial call

Jim Montgomery, head coach of the Boston Bruins, found himself in a comical moment during Game 5 against the Florida Panthers while trying to call out a dive that happened on the play.

With high pressure in this critical matchup of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Montgomery was determined to ensure his team's success and avoid elimination. However, his efforts to convince the officials during a penalty call didn't go as planned.
In the second period, when Mason Lohrei received a two-minute penalty for hooking, Montgomery mimicked and argued that the play had been exaggerated by the Panthers player. Even with his animated protestations, the penalty stood, and Lohrei got his two minutes in the box.
"Can't get mad about that one, that's a hook all day, [Eetu] Luostarinen might've gone down a liiiiiittle easy but Lohrei has to be smarter there especially knowing FLA has been drawing calls all series long."

Unfortunately for the Bruins, this incident seemed to symbolize their struggles in the game, despite holding a 2-1 lead heading into the third period. As tensions rised, it became clear that the players were doing the same as their coach. If Montgomery's reactions couldn't be controlled, it was raising concerns about the team's ability to stay calm in this crucial elimination game.
