Penguins GM, Kyle Dubas made some questionable comments about John Tavares saying signing him was his biggest mistake as the Maple Leafs General Manager.
In recent interview with The Athletic, Craig Custance asked Kyle Dubas about his time with Toronto, and he said that the whole negotiating process with John Tavares was a big learning moment from him and it led to major problems with the team.
«The thing I learned was once we signed John to the (AAV) we did, it lifted the lid on the entire ceiling,» Dubas said.
Some Leaf jottings before leaving the rink for summer:
Dubas signed Tavares to a huge $11 million AAV contract that locked him for 7-years. Many fans weren't shocked by the singing but the contract hasn't aged like it was supposed to. There have even been rumors that Tavares might get stripped of his captaincy this season.

Good Deal or Bad Deal? 🤷♀️
Penguins fans are hoping that he learned from this mistake and will approach negotiations in a more diligent way the next time around.
