Montgomery might be experimenting at the wrong time

Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery has been making some strange changes lately with his lines that have many fans questioning the timing.

In the last 4 games, the Bruins have had different D pairings in every game. The most consistent player has been Charlie McAvoy who is the starting right D but his partner has switched between Hampus Lindholm and Matt Grzelcyk. The second and third pairings have been switching every game with no consistency.

Let's start with the defense over the last four games, where you can see it's a drastically different setup each time. If it means anything for the future, only four of the eight D-men were in all four lineups — Charlie McAvoy, Hampus Lindholm, Brandon Carlo and Andrew Peeke.- Abramo

Not only has Montgomery changed things up on the Bruins blueline but has now been altering the forward lines as well over the last two games. The only consistency up front has been captain Brad Marchand on the first line.

Since the Bruins are in the playoffs, these games are not as important, some may think it is a good time to mix up the lines and see what works but it also creates confusion not allowing lines to have momentum going into the playoffs.
