At age 36 and Pat Maroon signing only a 1-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks, there is a lot of speculation around the league that this will be his final season.

"I'm just looking at the season ahead," Maroon stated, leaving the door open on the question of retirement.

Maroon is about to begin is 14th season in the NHL with his 8th different team, but after doing everything one can do in their career, this will probably be his last. Marron played only 2 games for the B's last season before being traded to the Minnesota Wild. He accumulated 4 goals and 12 assists for 16 points 51 games.
It is no surprise that his talents do not lie with offense in mind, as a 4th line forward, he is out their playing physical, fighting, and making sure that the top lines are getting their rest. It was a smart move to bring him to Chicago where he can protect and be a leader in the locker room for a young team and for players like Connor Bedard.
If this is his last season, he surely will be missed and what a career he had.
