Ever since Linus Ullmark was traded to the Ottawa Senators, there have been many rumors circulating that he may not want to sign an extension with the team, but a new report indicates otherwise.
It was just revealed by former NHL general manager Shawn Simpson that the former Vezina Trophy winner has bought a house in Ottawa, indicating that he fully intends to be with the team long term. A Senators front office executive has a lot of optimism a deal will get done and that it most likely will be before the season commences.
"Hearing Ullmark has bought a home in Ottawa," Simpson wrote. "I wouldn't be shocked if we hear about an extention before the season starts. If you've been to Sweden, you can understand Ottawa shares many of the same qualities of life. A great place for a young family."
Ullmark also commented on his feelings towards signing and the city of Ottawa in general and stated the team was never on his 15-team no trade list.
"I'm very excited about what's to come because I see a lot of potential in the Ottawa Senators," Ullmark said. "The thing that everybody talks about is that Ottawa is a great place to raise a family, and that speaks volumes for me."
Ullmark appeared in 40 games for the Boston Bruins last season, he acheived a record of 22-10, with an elite 2.55 goals against average (GAA) and a save % of 0.915. He is no doubt going to be there #1 goalie this upcoming season.
