Canadiens' forward Mike Hoffman has shared a video in which he publicly criticizes Player Safety for their response to the cross-check incident involving A.J. Greer of the Bruins.
Greer received a one-game suspension after delivering a high cross-check to Hoffman's face on Thursday night, which left him bleeding on the ice. Hoffman later returned to play wearing a full face cage, and his recent video reveals a significant injury to his chin.
Openly Criticizing the NHL
Hoffman took to his Instagram story to express his dissatisfaction with the league's verdict. See his statement below:
''I've been suspended for two games for cross-checking someone in the back of the helmet. A deliberate, forceful cross-check to the face? One game. Hmmm.''
Hoffman is referencing a cross-check he delivered to Sharks forward Logan Couture in 2016.
It is arguable that a cross-check to the back of the head poses greater danger than one to the chin, considering the severity of head injuries in the NHL.
