At the age of 21, he has left us after displaying unwavering courage throughout a two-year battle against a formidable brain tumor. The news was somberly shared by his agent, Dan Milstein.

With heavy hearts, we convey the deeply saddening news of Rodion Amirov's passing. Two years ago, Rodion was confronted with the harsh reality of a brain tumor diagnosis. Yet, from the very moment he received this news, he chose to defy the negative and embrace each day with an inspiring positivity—a reflection of the same determined spirit that marked his illustrious hockey journey. His bravery, his aspirations, his determination, his infectious smile—these are the facets we shall forever cherish. Our gratitude extends to his medical caregivers, whose meticulous attention played a vital role. We extend our thanks to the Toronto Maple Leafs and his KHL team, Salavat Yulayev Ufa, for their unyielding support. They went above and beyond, leaving no stone unturned for Rodion and the Amirov family. And to the global community of hockey enthusiasts who showered him with well-wishes and encouragement over these trying years, your gestures meant the world to the Amirov family.

Throughout his arduous journey, Amirov clung to an optimistic outlook, embracing life's joys and his fervor for hockey with open arms. Rising through the ranks of the Yulayev Ufa system, his prowess earned him a coveted first-round selection by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2020 NHL Draft.
However, his health took a severe blow in 2021 with the brain tumor diagnosis, derailing his path. Despite the trials and tribulations, Amirov's determination to stage a triumphant return for the 2022-23 season remained unshaken. May Rodion Amirov rest in eternal peace, his spirit forever etched in the annals of hockey history.
