Nicklas Backstrom, forward for the Washington Capitals, made an impressive comeback in January following hip resurfacing surgery.
However, there are doubts about how his hip will respond this summer. Hockey players like Ryan Kesler and Mike Sillinger have experienced mixed outcomes after undergoing the procedure, resulting in the end of their careers.
The surgery involves dislocating the
joint, shaving down the femoral head and socket, and capping them with titanium before rejoining them. The Undertaker, a WWE Hall of Famer, also returned to work after the surgery but with reduced matches.
Backstrom's future impact remains uncertain, and if he is unable to continue playing, the Capitals may consider placing him on long-term injured reserve.
