During Chiles' Floor routine, the judges misjudged her routine which gave her score that would initially not be high not enough to get her on the podium. They then awarded her more points after the fact because they judged the routine easier than it actually was. After the team appealed, the points were awarded but this was the judges second mistake as due to the rules of the Olympics, the appeal came to late after the competition concluded and Chiles was then stripped of her Bronze Medal.
The real controversy is that Chiles actually did earn a score that was high enough to be awarded the medal, but due to a technical error by the judges, they stripped the opportunity away from her, does she deserve to have the medal reinstated?
