Red Wings former Stanley Cup champion tragically passes away
The Red Wings announced the tragic passing of former team massage therapist Sergei Mnatsakanov this morning.
Mnatsakanov was part of the 1997 Stanley Cup winning team but also played a much bigger part in Detroit's history.
The Russian therapist was in the horrific limousine accident that saw all-star defenseman Vladimir Konstantinov lose his hockey career due to head injuries while Mnatsakanov was left paralyzed from the waist down.
Detroit announced his passing but did not give any details as to what happened.
The entire community wishes the Mnatsakanov their condolences during these difficult times.
