It is no question that 3 on 3 Overtime is one of the most exciting things in hockey, but it has been criticizes as of late, the NHL could be implementing a new rule that greatly affects the tactics teams are taking advantage of.
Over in The KHL, the are already experimenting with new rule that decreases the unfair advantages of puck possession that 3 on 3 enables.
The KHL is testing a new rule in its Junior Hockey League (MHL) that penalizes teams for excessive puck possession in the defensive zone during overtime. Under this rule, if a team skates the puck out of the offensive zone and into its own, it receives a warning for the first violation.
