On April 15, 1990, the Boston Bruins and Hartford Whalers had an intense game six in the Stanley Cup Semi-Finals.
Despite losing that game, the Bruins won game seven against the Whalers and went on to face the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final. The Oilers ultimately won the series 4-1, securing their fifth Stanley Cup in seven years.
Edmonton goaltender Bill Ranford was named the playoffs' Most Valuable Player. This was the second Finals meeting between the Bruins and Oilers, with Edmonton winning both times.
