Absolutely no doubt about it, Ryan Reaves from the Toronto Maple Leafs created quite a stir this week when discussing his time on the sidelines. Despite being on injured reserve since December 14, 2023, Reaves revealed to reporters that he's labeled as a healthy scratch.

In his own words,

"Yeah, I've been ready for a couple of weeks now. That's a question for them. I am not in those rooms, in those conversations. I'm not going to speculate anything. Just stay ready. And if I get called upon, I do. If I don't, I get my work in."

Expressing his frustration, he added,

"I definitely hate it. I don't know exactly what the situation is or what's going to happen I talked to my agents. I've had highs and lows in my career before. I'd say probably this is one of the tougher ones. I guess it is what it is."

While Reaves may not have intended to accuse the Maple Leafs of manipulating the system, his comments hinted at such implications. On the recent episode of 32 Thoughts, Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman expressed surprise at Reaves' candid remarks and pondered if Toronto GM Brad Treliving is considering parting ways with him.

According to Marek and EF, the Reaves situation is intriguing, and they are uncertain about its outcome. They even suggested that the Leafs might take some action by Wednesday regarding Reaves.

Reaves had inked a three-year deal with Toronto before the 2023-24 season, a move by Treliving to add toughness to the team. However, early criticism during the season targeted Reaves for his perceived lack of impact despite consuming playing minutes.
