Is There Cause for Concern Regarding Patrice Bergeron?

Patrice Bergeron has been absent from 3 of the last 5 games for Boston due to persistent injuries. Should fans be concerned about their captain?

Bergeron initially sustained an injury on February 23rd after a late hit to the head from Rem Pitlick of the Montreal Canadiens:

Just four games later, Bergeron received another high hit, this time from Lane Pederson of the Columbus Blue Jackets, causing bleeding from his ear:

Since then, the Bruins' captain has been sidelined for the team's last two games, back-to-back matches in Pittsburgh and St. Louis.

''Bergeron's out. Resting nagging injuries here that � obviously the cross-check in the ear � but he's been dealing with some upper-body and lower-body issues that we'd like to get him some rest on.''

Despite being in his 19th season, the 37-year-old Bergeron continues to excel as a defensive forward. He ranks third on the team with 27 goals and 30 assists in 74 games.

On a positive note for Bergeron and other injured players, Ty Anderson reported that the Bruins will also take Tuesday off:

''Bruins announce that they will take Tuesday off as well. Back to practice Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Warrior.''
