Brad Marchand demonstrated once more that he is the ultimate teammate, as he reacted swiftly to a high hit on Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron without any hesitation.

Canadiens forward Rem Pitlick delivered a late, somewhat blindside hit on an unsuspecting Bergeron. Although Bergeron didn't seem injured, Marchand instantly defended his captain and confronted Pitlick (see below).

Standing by His Words

In April 2018, Marchand shared an emotional piece through The Players' Tribune called Built For Boston, which delves into his early career years.
The most striking part is when he discusses Bergeron and his commitment to protect him:
‘'So I watched Patrice from day one, and I saw the ultimate professional. I don't have many rules I live by, but one of my rules is: If you say anything bad about my brother, or about Patrice Bergeron, I'll fight you. The guy is simply unbelievable. I've watched him play with broken bones, a punctured lung a freaking punctured lung.''

Marchand mentioned that it was Claude Julien, the Bruins' head coach back then, who advised him to model his gameplay and demeanor after Patrice Bergeron.
The pair have been teammates in Boston for 14 seasons now, securing a Stanley Cup victory in 2011, and they're aiming for another one this season.
