Brad Marchand crossed a significant milestone last evening as he scored his 400th goal in his career while helping the Bruins beat the Hurricanes 4-1 last evening. After the game and speaking to the media, Marchand explained that he was not trying to think about it and that it was a looming milestone that needed to be resolved as it hung over him.

"It was good. Was trying not to think about was kind of an elephant in the room. Nice to get it. Don't have to worry about it anymore. It's nice that we had a really good game to follow it up and a big road trip. It's a good night."

It's been a year of change for the Bruins and Marchand after receiving the captaincy when his best friend Patrice Bergeron decided to hang up his skates. The team also saw more changes as long-time teammate David Krejci also decided to retire from the game. After being inserted as the key leader to the team, Marchand continued to play his style of game which consists have a little anger and getting under the skin of many of his opponents while scoring 28 goals. With the Bruins now nestled in the playoffs and awaiting for the conclusion of the season let alone their first round opponent, Marchand can look back at this year and feel good with carrying the team to the top of the standings while taking huge hits in their depth with the loss of Bergeron and Krejci.

Through 77 games, he has scored 28 goals with 37 assists for 65 points and is a + 8. The Bruins sit comfortably on the top of the Atlantic division at 105 points, four points over the Panthers and are likely to finish in that position at the end of the year.
