Bruins Prospect Making a Serious Case to Being Called Back Up

Published March 3, 2024 at 3:54 PM

Bruins young prospect Georgii Merkulov has been playing extremely well for Providence in the AHL this season. The 23 year-old forward has been averaging a point per game with 49 points in 49 games with a 5 +/- rating.

Merkulov was called up earlier this season but ended his 4 game stint in the NHL with 0 points throughout those games. Although he had a tough time when lastly called by the Bruins, he has shown that he did not let it affect his play and has continued to dominate the AHL.

Since the Bruins have been struggling with secondary scoring lately and multiple injuries, it may be time to give Merkulov another chance, especially since finding out that Zacha will be out indefinitely.

Zacha (lower body) will not return.

The Bruins have had multiple injuries this season showing that the team has quite a few older players, fans should not worry as they seem to have a lot of promising young prospects such as Merkulov in the pipeline.
