Charlie Coyle never fails to be the subject of talks in hockey circles.
The Bruins first line center has been scrutinized as of late, being often labelled as a good but not great pivot on one of the league's top team by many. The missed opportunity to add a top six center on trade deadline did nothing to calm talks about the Bruins unusual shallow depht center.
In a recent article written by Sean Gentille of The Athletic, Charlie Coyle finds himself categorized as a
"decent player who is overextended alongside Flames snarky Nazem Kadri and Colombus leader Boone Jenner"
.
Working in tandem with Pavel Zacha to round out Boston's top six, both players were categorized as
"Both really good 2 Cs"
by an anonymous scout who was willing to share his take with Gentille.
While this appreciation can be seen as a compliment, a certain feeling of want remains for the Bruins, who might find it difficult to replace retired future Hall of Famer Patrice Bergeron.
Can they repeat a championship run without a franchise center ?
