Brad Marchand makes a major declaration on resting players

Published March 30, 2024 at 2:46 PM

With the Boston Bruins already having a playoff spot clinched, one of the topics regarding the team is resting players. Even though the playoffs are clinched, the division is not. The team would obviously like to have all players going into the playoffs healthy but they would also like to be the highest possible seed, however the Bruins do have 8 regular seasons games remaining on their schedule before the playoffs.

Brad Marchand shared is thoughts on the topic

"If you can't play back-to-backs, then you shouldn't be in the league, said Marchand. You should be the best-conditioned athletes in the world."

Clearly, Marchand doesn't think the starters should receive rest, and they should be playing every night as come playoff time in the 1st round, they very well may play teams, that have no choice but to play every night, just to get into the playoffs. These teams will be well conditioned and ready to go.

Bruins' head coach Jim Montgomery shared his thoughts as well as he stated

"For us it's more about battling for positioning right now and getting into the playoffs playing the right way."

The coaches and players are on the same page, play hard every night as there is still a division to win and make sure the team is focused and ready to play come playoff time. If not, then we very well may see another 1st round exit.
