"Just took a chance and jumped there, and this time it worked. Just tried to hit the net," Boqvist said Saturday. "To hear the crowd and that goal horn, too – it's probably the best in the league. It's awesome to score here for sure."
Its been quite the journey this year for Jesper Boqvist, as he signed with the Bruins last offseason. Jesper Boqvist did not make the team after training camp as he instead was sent to the AHL. He was then called up and was originally the 4th line center but was again promoted, to 3rd line center and his linemates are now Jake DeBrusk and Trent Frederic.
Bruins head coach stated after moving Jesper Boqvist to the 3rd line :
"We like the speed of [DeBrusk] and Boqvist together. We think that can be an added weapon on our third line."
For the year, Jesper Boqvist has played in 43 games with 6 goals, 8 assists for a total of 14 points.
Jesper Boqvist consistent play could be contributed to his consistent playing time as he stated :
"It's a little bit easier to keep the momentum," Boqvist said. "Even if you have a bad game, you want to bounce right back. If you're out of the lineup for two or three games, you kind of lose that momentum a little bit."
However, for someone who started the year in the AHL, he has to for sure earn his playing time as the Bruins are Stanley Cup contenders. With the playoffs nearing, the Bruins depth will certainly be tested the further they go into the playoffs, and Jesper Boqvist could really help the Bruins make a deep playoff run.
