A frightening incident occurred on Friday night in Hartford during game four of the playoff series between the Providence Bruins and the Wolf Pack.
In the early moments of the third period, Providence defenseman Michael Callahan was racing for the puck in his own zone when forward Will Lockwood delivered a debatable hit, causing Callahan to lie still on the ice. Witness the event here:
Once the situation calmed, Lockwood received a five-minute major penalty for boarding and a 10-minute misconduct.
Mark Divver from New England Hockey Journal reported that the game was briefly paused for the stretcher to be brought out, and Callahan was eventually carried off the ice.
Divver later shared an encouraging update on Callahan, who was seen walking unassisted after the match.
''Thumb's up from Mike Callahan, who is up and about outside Bruins room downstairs.''
