Since the end of the holiday break on December 27th, the Bruins' penalty kill unit has been horrendous to say the least. The team's success rate while shorthanded has plummeted to 74%, which has put them in 28th place in that category.
Fans are wondering if it seems to be a lack in grit and defensive reliability that has been causing the struggles. It is no surprise that they D-core has been having a tough time but with recent changes such as Lindholm being out of the line-up and young 6'5 defenseman Mason Lohrei coming up from Providence may be good for the team. It will interesting to see if Lohrei will be able to add some fire to the penalty kill against the Oilers.
